FTSE after the election, depending on who wins

Here are some interesting statistics one of my members (thanks Tony H)  has researched for the effect on the FTSE 100 with the election result.

  • Since 1935 Conservatives spent 46 yrs. in power and the Markets rose by 755% = Average 16% p.a.
  • Since 1935 Labour  spent 34 yrs. in power and the Markets rose by 84% = Average 2.4% p.a.

It is normal for the markets to rise after a change of government for between 1 to 3 yrs.

However, when Conservatives continue after their first term, the markets go on to rise exponentially to the end of their incumbency.

This took an hour to work out, but over the next 10 years it may have been worth it.
